The Working Principle of LNG Cylinder

The five major working systems of LNG cylinders are: liquid filling system, liquid discharge system, pressurization system, self pressurization system, and security system.

Let’s introduce these five systems in turn.

1.Liquid Filling System

In order to make the gas cylinder be able to replenish fuel (LNG) in time like the fuel tank, a complete liquid filling system is installed on the gas cylinder, the principle is as follows:

 

2. Liquid discharge system

The liquid filling is realized. In order to continuously supply fuel to the engine, there is a complete liquid discharge system on the LNG cylinder. The liquid discharge system is mainly composed of the main components such as the liquid discharge valve, the overflow valve, the pipeline, the water bath vaporizer, and the gas collector.

 

3.Pressurization system

The best operating pressure of the gas cylinder is between 0.8 and 1.2 MPa. In order to ensure that the pressure of the gas cylinder is not less than 0.8 MPa, a self-pressurizing system is designed for the gas cylinder. The gas cylinder self-pressurization system is mainly composed of a pressurization valve, a pressurization regulating valve, a pressurization pipeline, and a pressurized air vaporization coil. Its working principle is: when the booster valve is opened, the liquid in the gas cylinder flows out of the gas cylinder by gravity, passes through the air temperature coil to absorb heat and vaporizes into gas, and then enters the gas cylinder through the pipeline (valve), and 1L of liquid can be converted into Approximately 600L gas, thus completing the self-pressurization function.

 

4. Self-pressurization system

When the pressure of the gas cylinder is higher than 1.2MPa, it may cause fuel waste, performance degradation and other problems. Therefore, there is a set of economic (self-pressure reduction) system on the gas cylinder. The economic system is mainly composed of economic regulating valves and economic copper pipes (joints). When the pressure of the gas cylinder is higher than the set pressure of the economic control valve, the economic control valve is automatically opened. At this time, the gas in the upper space of the gas cylinder enters the liquid outlet pipeline through the economic control valve to make the gas The bottle pressure drops in time.

 

5. Security system

LNG cylinders are pressure vessels in the industry. When the pressure of the pressure vessel is higher than the design pressure, the pressure vessel may explode, rupture, and other failures. Therefore, install the first-level safety valve, the second-level safety valve, the gas cylinder booster pipeline safety valve, the gas cylinder pressure gauge and other accessories on the LNG cylinder to control the possible failure of the gas cylinder caused by the excessive pressure of the gas cylinder.
