CNG and LNG have the characteristics of low cost, pollution-free, clean and high efficiency, and are ideal alternative energy sources for petroleum. In order to optimize the energy consumption structure and realize the strategy of sustainable development, natural gas has been vigorously promoted as a clean and efficient ecological high-quality energy and fuel. As a fuel for automobiles, natural gas has become the development direction of clean fuels for automobiles in the world.
However, some people are hesitant in choosing CNG or LNG. Here we list some differences between the CNG and LNG for your reference.
1.Different State
LNG is short for Liquefied Natural Gas, and its main component is methane. CNG is short for Compressed Natural Gas and it is compressed natural gas (more than 3,600 psi) and stored in a gaseous state in a container. It has the same composition as pipeline natural gas and can be used as vehicle fuel.
2.Different Storage Methods
CNG is stored in gas cylinders, while LNG needs to be stored in vacuum insulated cylinders.
3.Different Storage Efficiency
The volume of LNG is about 1/625 of the same volume of gaseous natural gas, and its storage efficiency is 2.5 times that of the same volume of CNG.
4 .CNG Processing Cost is Relatively Low
The pipeline gas is delivered to the filling station, after desulfurization, dehydration and other processes, it is pressurized to a pressure of more than 200 kilograms, and then filled into the CNG car through the dispenser, and finally decompressed by the decompression device and then enters the engine for combustion.
5.LNG production costs are relatively high, resulting in the final gas price increase to the user.
After the gas is liquefied, it is in the ultra-low temperature state (minus 165°C), and enters the engine combustion through evaporation and gasification. Although LNG cylinders are vacuum insulated, they will still evaporate and leak if they need to be stored for a long time, which is not as long as CNG. However, the storage pressure of LNG is low and the safety is better. After gasification, each cubic LNG is about 600 standard cubic meters.
